Mitzvot are elemental ideas in Judaism, coming straight from Torah text. The Mitzvot are the foundation values of the Jewish people. Some are commands, like DO THIS! and others are warnings, DON’T DO THIS! New lenses, like art, on the mitzvot system as well as on individual mitzvot help us connect with their meanings and resonate deeper for us both individually and in community.
The 613 Exhibit can be a stand alone workshop or a year of community engagement. Elements include individual reflections on specific mitzvot, Jewish art learning about Ya’acov Agam and Marc Chagall, individual artist exhibits, a communal art project creating Chagall Mitzvah Windows, and more! Put it all together at a pop up gallery opening and celebrate Matan Torah and Mitzvot!
