Doña Gracia Mendes Nasi’s story takes us on a Jewish journey from Portugal to Antwerp to Venice to Istanbul to T’veria. The story of her travels serve as a parallel and framework to the Jewish diaspora at large. Lessons in this project include Doña Gracia specific culture and ideas as well as a deep dive into the Diaspora. Lessons center around historical maps, primary sources from locations and times and Jewish historical figures. Activities include Armada ship making, Azulejos tile making, games and discussions, poster and collage making by city, language exploration, personal journey map creation and more.
